This eclectic quartet, hailing from Chicago’s North Shore, brings together diverse personal influences and melds them together with an unmistakably unique result. From improvisation-inspired instrumentals to songs concerning a penchant for being called “fat”, Moisture Pimp not only covers a large amount of  original musical distance quite gracefully, but can also dip into a deep pocket of stellar cover tunes. They are wacky and entertaining people who share a mission of making sure everybody has a good time, even if a few clowns have to get hurt in the process. Audience involvement, props, polls, and most importantly, killer music, make an evening with Moisture Pimp one for the record books.

Currently involved in recording their debut album on Darwin Records, Moisture Pimp has been hiding out in the suburbs since it first became an entity just 9 short months ago. Having garnered a strong following in the Highwood area, Moisture Pimp is now ready to make the move downtown, where the wettest show in town will no doubt start raising some ears, and hopefully some hell, to boot.

Colin Keary-Taylor – His driving rhythms mixed with his love for Frank Zappa, make Colin a nimble drummer who is at home anywhere. Also influenced by the Black Crowes, Bela Fleck, Carter Beauford.

Scott Friedman – A classically trained pianist who used to listen to a lot of techno, and then became a jamband fanatic (ask him about Umphrey’s), Scott is truly one of the dynamic leaders of this group when it comes to improv, vocals or just about anything.

Chris Hartnett – A music major who also holds degrees in math and physics, Chris is both cranial and imaginative when it comes to composition and improvisation, and brings a strong prog-rock feel to some of the more recent tunes.

Steve Lane – A slaptastic hard funking bassist, Steve hails from Oregon (and Chicago before that) where he has been playing music with bands for as long as he can remember. Influences include Victor Wooten, Ween, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Tchaikovsky
