Founded in the earliest days of 2005, Moisture Pimp is a band for the people. Bringing a distinct lack of class, mixed with excellent musicianship, Moisture Pimp is a cut above (and deeply below) the rest.
Starting out practicing in a basement, and playing various Highwood establishments for years, the Pimp definitely has it’s roots in and around the suburbs of the fine non-olympic-hosting city of Chicago. We’ve played all over, Highwood. Yup, Highwood. Teddy O’Brians, The Alley and even the Wooden Nickel have hosted us numerous times. Building a local following, the Pimp has found it’s way to such Chicago establishments as Subterranean, Elbo Room and Martyrs. Brad even let us play on his roof! Imagine that!
Moisture Pimp began it’s humble beginnings with the not-so-fab-foursome of Steve Lane (Bass), Chris Hartnett (Guitar), Scott Friedman (Keys) and Colin Keary-Taylor (Drums and the occasional garbage-can lid). After 3.5 years blessed with Chris’ presence with a pick, Chris decided to move on (to Tennessee of all places!) and Tim Pawlowski, our original Sound Guy extraordinare, jumped into the fray as our new Guitarist.
With a penchant for horrible 80′s music, classic rock, and a (very) generous smattering of Phish tunes, not to mention a fantastic collection of original compositions, Moisture Pimp really puts on a fun show for all.
Come and see us!
